Port -

CIVITAVECHIA – a privileged testing ground in the Mediterranean region, of the main challenges of contemporary humanity, climate change and the efficient use of resources.

Mare Nostrum is one of the global hotspots of climate change impacts, it is the basin that is warming most rapidly, sea level will undergo the greatest rise and extreme atmospheric events will become more frequent, with promising results be irreversible and destructive.

This is the geoeconomic focus of the Blue Planet Economy Expoforum 2022, a three-day event organized by Fiera Roma and Mar – Marine Activities and Research Association, scheduled to date.

The Forum deals with the most current trend-topics of the Blue Economy in the only possible downside is innovation towards total sustainability. The President of the Port System Authority of the Central-North Tyrrhenian Sea, Pino Musolino, also spoke on the first day, explaining that «the idea is to make the port of Civitavecchia a circular economy hub.

An opportunity – explained Musolino – to develop the economy of our region but also to solve a problem that the capital also has with regard to waste management: we must move beyond the idea that garbage is something useless. , to consider that it could become the raw material for a new production cycle, at the service of the local, regional and national economy».

The ambition of the three days, as explained by Roberto Morabito, president of the Enea techno-scientific committee, “is to be a moment of meeting and reflection for companies, the scientific community, institutions of all Mediterranean countries – he explained – triggering a great ecological transition.” Reflection on the face and creating an opportunity to strengthen the dialogue between the shores of the Mediterranean and to offer proposals and solutions”.
