Scotland: Glasgow Cabs orders 360 Nissan Leaf

Glasgow Cabs, a taxi and rental car company from Glasgow, has ordered a 360 Nissan Leaf to replace the current combustion model with an e-fleet. 360 electric cars are to be delivered over a period of three years, with the first eleven this year.

For Glasgow Cabs, these are the first vehicles in its fleet to be electric drive. During the bulk order, Scots opted for the Nissan Leaf E+ N-Connecta with a 62 kWh battery. According to the partners, the WLTP range of 239 miles (equivalent to 384 kilometers) is “easy enough for normal daily tasks”. Scottish car dealer Park’s Motor Group played a key role in placing the order.

Glasgow Cabs, for its part, was formed only this year through the merger of Hampden Cars and Glasgow Private Hire. According to an accompanying statement, the merger has created the largest private rental car and taxi company in Scotland. Glasgow-Cabs Director Steven Malcolm comments: “We have been thinking about electrifying part or all of our fleet for some time (…). We want to do our part to reduce air pollution and protect the environment. Would like to. Replacing hundreds of our gasoline and diesel vehicles with all-electric Nissan Leafs will have a significant impact on air quality in Glasgow.”
