Scotland is “in mourning” after Sir Sean Connery’s death, while the country’s prime minister, Nicola Sturgeon, claims to have “lost one” [Scotland’s] Dearest son ”.
Scotland is “in mourning” over the death of Sir Sean Connery.
The iconic James Bond actor – who was the first to play 007 on the big screen – has died at the age of 90, and in response to the sad news, Nicola Sturgeon, the Prime Minister of his country, Scotland, called the country “at its most Condolences on “one of the beloved sons”.
On social media, Nicola said: “I was shocked to learn of Sir Sean Connery’s demise this morning. Our nation today is one of its dearest sons.
“Sean was born into a working class family in Edinburgh and, through his talent and hard work, has become a symbol of international cinema and one of the most skilled actors in the world. (Sicil)
And his Scottish colleague Alex Salmond called Connery the “greatest Scotsman in the world”.
He said: “The greatest Scotsman in the world, the last, definitive Bond of real Hollywood stars.
“Sean Connery was one of these things, but a lot more.
“He was a staunch patriot, a profound thinker and an extraordinary human being. ”
Connery’s family confirmed on Saturday (10/31/20) that the legendary actor died in his sleep in the Bahamas.
Star’s first outing as a British Bond super-spy took place in 1962 with ‘Dr. No ‘and overall he has played author Ian Fleming’s character seven times in films such as’ Goldfinger’ and ‘Diamonds Are Forever’, which are considered to be the classics of the franchise to date.
In August, he passed a poll conducted by RadiTimes.com, named the best-of-all-time James Bond.
After Bond, Connery’s decades-long career included several hit films such as “Highlander”, “The Hunt for Red October”, “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” and “The Rock”.
His performance has earned him many accolades, including two BAFTAs, three Golden Globes and an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role as the Irish cop in the 1987 crime drama “The Untouchables”.
In 2000, she was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II at Holyrode Palace for her cinema services.
