Scottish Premier League - 102 points: Glasgow Rangers finish the season without a loss

Glasgow (AP) – Scottish football champions Glasgow Rangers have finished a season without a loss for the first time in the club’s history.

England coach and former national player Steven Gerrard’s team, who had been Scottish football champions since 7 March, also won all 19 home games in the league. Rangers beat Aberdeen 4-0 on the last day of the match. With 102 out of 114 possible points, Gerard’s team set another club record. This was the first time the club had broken the 100-point mark.

Hundreds of Rangers supporters gathered around the Ibrox Park stadium, with no spectators allowed due to coronavirus regulations, on Saturday afternoon and celebrated their team’s success without distance and mostly without masks. Politicians and officials appealed to fans to break up the gathering. Rangers also demanded this. “Please celebrate safely and wisely,” the club tweeted. “We ask fans to move away from Ibrox.”

This is the third season at Ibrox Park for former Liverpool star Gerrard, his first trophy as coach. For Glasgow Rangers, the 55th championship title means the end of a long drought. Following bankruptcy, the record champions were ousted from the Scottish Premiership in 2012 and had to restart in the Fourth Division. Since then, arch rivals Celtic Glasgow had won the Scottish Championship nine times in a row. Rangers now finished the season 25 points ahead of their undefeated neighbours.
