Gaspard, 39, disappeared on Sunday after swimming in nearby Marina Del Rey with his 10-year-old son Aryeh. The two had been caught in a violent current, lifeguards said.
Aryeh was rescued, but Gaspard’s body was unable to be located until he was found on Venice Beach in early Wednesday, a week after its beaches reopened.
The beaches, which now allow for physical activities such as running, swimming and walking, had been closed to combat the spread of the new coronavirus.
