The ceasefire in the Gaza Strip will continue for the present

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is planning a trip to the Middle East in the coming days. He announced this in a telephone conversation to Israeli Foreign Minister Gabby Ashkenazi. As confirmed by the US State Department, Blinken wants to reunite with his Israeli and Palestinian counterparts there.

Speaking to the Palestinian media, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shatayh said that he “welcomed the success of international efforts led by Egypt to end Israel’s aggression against our people in Gaza.” In the Middle East conflict, the agreed truce between Israel and militant Palestinians began as planned on Friday morning. Among other things, the ceasefire was confirmed on the basis of Egyptian arbitration. Cairo also announced that it would send two delegations to oversee the ceasefire.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called on all sides to abide by the agreement. The UN chief further said, now it will have to resume a speedy reconstruction and serious dialogue. The United Nations will support Israelis and Palestinians in this.
