The humpback whale takes a ‘wrong turn’ and enters the crocodile-affected river

A group of humpback whales has reported a “wrong turn” and ended up in a crocodile-affected river in Australia.

Australia Giant mammals end up in the East Alligator River in the Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory of Australia. Inside Statement Published on Sept. 11, the national park said three humpback whales entered the river. “As far as we know, this is the first time this has happened,” officials said in a statement.

As of Sept. 10, it felt like there was only one whale left in the river, Cucumber National Park said. For the safety of people traveling by whales and boats, authorities set up an outer area 18.6 miles upstream from the mouth of the river. “The last thing we want is a collision between a boat and a whale in the water where crocodiles are prevalent and there is zero visibility under the water,” he said. “We also don’t want boats to inadvertently push whales into the river.”

Citing experts, the BBC Reports That whales “took the wrong approach” during the annual maritime migration.

Kakadu National Park said the whales are not currently in distress and are not in a state of emergency. “Whales are the best way to get back to sea. Cucumber National Park and N.T. [Northern Territory] Government scientists will continue to observe the whales in the coming days. ”

There are two major populations of humpback whales in Australian waters that migrate along the east and west coasts of the country, Northern Territory Government.
