LONDON (Reuters) – TotalEnergies announced on Wednesday it has partnered with Green Investment Group, a subsidiary of Australia’s Macquarie, and Scottish conglomerate Renewable Infrastructure Development Group (RIDG) to respond to Scotland’s upcoming wind power tender at sea .

The three companies have come together in a consortium named “Offshore Wind Power Limited” to best answer the “Scottwind” call for tenders, which expires on July 16.

The project potentially covers an area of 8,600 sq km of Scottish sea level.

The development of offshore wind is critical for Scotland to achieve its environmental goals.

The country intends to generate half of its energy consumption from renewable energy by 2030 and achieve zero net emissions by 2045.

Last February, Green Investment Group and Total Energies had already secured a concession on the British seabed as part of the fourth phase of a tender for the development of wind power in England and Wales.
