The fight, which saw Justin Gaethje win the battle against Tony Ferguson, was the first major U.S. sporting event to return since restrictions on the coronavirus were introduced.
In his message, the President said that it is important to “recover the sports championships”.
“Let’s play,” said Trump. “Do social distancing and whatever else you need to do. But we need sports. We want to get our sports back.”
White, who was a Trump supporter, spoke to the 2016 RNC on behalf of Trump and is also a current Trump adviser to assist the return of the sport.
White said he has been on some “big” teleconferences with Trump, saying that “everyone is motivated to try to understand this and bring back sports,” CNN previously reported.
“All athletes and staff will be required to adhere to a number of precautionary measures, such as participation in advanced medical screenings and temperature controls and following social distance guidelines,” he noted.
