Trump golfed in his Virginia club amid the coronavirus pandemic

Trump seen golfing at Virginia club amid pandemic

The presidential procession arrived at the Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia on Saturday morning, according to pool reports. CNN’s Khalil Abdallah reported that secret service members with Trump on the golf course wore masks, although the president and his golf buddies weren’t. The president was seen riding alone in his golf cart and a caddy did not appear to be with him, Abdallah said.

On Sunday, the president was seen playing golf again at the property.

At Friday’s White House briefing, White House coronavirus task force officer Dr. Deborah Birx said that Americans should spend this weekend enjoying the outdoors, but should do so with caution.

“So please, as you go out this weekend, you understand that you can go out, you can be out. You can play golf, you can play tennis with marked balls. You can go to the beach if you are 6 feet away, but remember that it is your space and that is a space that you have to protect and make sure you have a social distance for others, “said Birx.

Before the weekend, Trump’s last golf trip was on March 8 when he visited Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida.

According to CNN’s count, Saturday and Sunday outings marked Trump’s 357th and 358th visit to one of his properties and his 265th and 266th trip to one of his golf clubs during his presidency.

Trump had previously called in a PGA golf program on NBC and told the guest that he missed the sport and that he was unable to play in the midst of the pandemic because he was busy.

“I miss it. I haven’t played this problem since we started. I haven’t been able to play golf for a while, I’ve been very busy and I think it’s just one of those things,” Trump said last week. .
