IUkraine “cannot accept any ultimatum from Russia,” President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with regional state media on Monday.

“Ukraine cannot accept an ultimatum from Russia. We have to destroy all of us first, then only their ultimatum will be respected,” he told Suspilane, a news website that published the video of the interview.

What do Russians want?

The Russian president continues to reiterate his demands: a “neutral and non-nuclear” status for Ukraine, its “compulsory demilitarization” and its “denial”, recognition of Russia’s annexation of the Crimean peninsula, and “sovereignty” of the pro-Russia peninsula. The Russian separatist regions of eastern Ukraine, Donetsk and Luhansk, are in their administrative regions, while the rebels currently control only a third of them.
