In Florida, mysterious remains were discovered on the shores of Daytona Beach in October and November after Hurricanes Ian and Nicole. Archaeologists who studied them on December 6 say that it could be a merchant ship of the 19th century.

Archaeologists traveled to the shores of Daytona Beach, Florida, on Tuesday to study mysterious remains uncovered by Hurricanes Ian and Nicole in October and November.

According to St. Augustine marine archaeologists, the site is home to a shipwreck, possibly a 25-meter long merchant ship dating from the mid-1800s.

In an attempt to give the wreck a name, the team studies shipping and insurance records, checking recorded shipwrecks in the area at the time.

Due to erosion damage, the debris will remain where it is. The storm’s recent path has led to other discoveries, including ancient human remains.
