Africa/South Sudan – the worldwide dimension of Pope Francis’ country visit

Torit (Agenzia Fides) – “Upon hearing of the upcoming visit of Pope Francis to the country, we have appointed a committee of four delegates from the Bishops’ Conference of Sudan and South Sudan (SSCBC) to begin preparations. This committee is jointly organized by the government. Will join the panel organized to work from In connection with the SSCBC’s preparations for the papal visit to South Sudan, Archbishop Stefan Ameu Martin Mulla, general of the Archdiocese of Juba, made the announcement (see Fides 10/3/2022).
“As a nation and a church, we are honored to announce the visit of the Holy Fathers,” said Archbishop Ameyu, who also serves as inspired administrator of the Diocese of Torit, South Sudan. “It will be a very important moment for all South Sudanese people to mobilize for peace and reconciliation. We hope that with his visit the Pope will encourage all of us to follow the path of dialogue, peace and justice in order to strengthen peace in the country.”
