LONDON (AP) – Pop superstar Dua Lipa has been nominated in three categories at this year’s Brit Awards and is considered a favorite. Britton has the chance to win the award for Best National Artist for Best Album (“Future Nostalgia”) and Best Single (“Physical”).

Celeste (“Little Runway”) and Arlo Parks (“Hope”) have also been nominated for three Brit Awards. The singers compete for Best Album as well as Best National Artist and Best Newcomer.
After criticism last year that women were underestimated, they are now in the top-class “Best British Album”. Of the five nominees, rapper Jay Huss is the only person. He has also been nominated for Best Artist. Singer Harry Styles was surprisingly not included in the category. The former One Direction star has a chance to win the UK for Best Single (“Watermelon Sugar”).
Many Brit winners Little Mix and The 1975, among others, can hope for a band award. Scottish rock band Biffy Clyro, who was nominated in 2011 and 2017 but received nothing on both occasions, is again one of the candidates.
The most prominent names can be found in the international sections of the British Awards 2021. There old rocker Bruce Springsteen competes with The Weeknd, Childish Gambino and Tame Impala. Top stars Ariana Grande, Billy Eilish, Cardi B, Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift have been nominated as many international artists.
After not receiving any Brit Awards for Best International Band in 2020, the category was reintroduced this year. The Korean boy band BTS is a favorite. Foo Fighters, Hym, Fontaine DC and Run the Jewels are also nominated.
The award ceremony will take place in London on 11 May. How the event will run this year is still open.
