More than 2 million Scots will face near-lockdown sanctions for three weeks after Nicola Sturgeon imposed covid sanctions at the country’s highest level in the west of Scotland.

After a cabinet meeting on Tuesday morning, Scotland’s first minister told the MSP that 4 of the 11 local authority areas would be entered – the highest of Scotland’s five-tier system of virus control – for a limited period this Friday from 6pm.

Local authorities are West Dunbartonshire, East Dunbartonshire, Ranfrushire, East Ranfrewshire, Glasgow City, North Lanarkshire, South Lan Lan Nakshire, West Lothian, East Ayrshire, South Ayrshire and Stirling.

Level 0

Not indoor socializing; Six people from two households allowed to meet out of town; No non-essential travel; No sale of indoor or outdoor alcohol; Hotels, B&B and camp sites are limited to locals or essential workers; All stadiums and events closed; Colleges and universities will have more restrictions on mixing; Restrict amateur outdoor contact sports; All leisure places closed; Only required public services.

Level 4

Like level 3 but closed except hotels and B&B essential workers; May apply “stay at home” rules or limit travel distance; Only essential travel on public transport; All non-essential shops are closed; Ban on hairdresser, beautician and driving lessons; Pooja imprisoned over 20 people; Only five people allowed at the wedding; Gym off; All leisure venues, pubs, rest restaurants rent, visitor attractions and cinemas closed; Only required indoor work place, outdoor building and manufacturing are allowed.

Sturz said police would enforce the new law banning travel at the level and areas as a “last resort” and “where clear and explicit violations occur”, but stressed the importance of not traveling from top to bottom. Wide areas.
