The Cuban delegation called for the strengthening of international cooperation with developing countries, as well as an end to unilateral coercive measures that have a serious impact on the rights and quality of life of people with disabilities, reports CubMinrex.

The island’s representative, Alejando González Behmaras, condemned the United States’ unjust economic, commercial and financial blockade against the Caribbean nation, contrary to the United Nations Charter and international law, as well as the impact of that policy on people with disabilities.

He stressed that the policy prohibits the country from acquiring hearing aids with advanced technology, including batteries and spare parts, as well as separate alarm devices for deaf people, because as a rule, more than 10 percent of the instrument and equipment Contains more components.

González Behmaras said that the largest part of the Antilles is moving forward, especially in terms of security and social assistance, access to health and education, and good employment.
