Actual sporting events directly affect transfer activities in Football Manager 21 (FM21). This follows new data that the developer revealed on Wednesday. EM players currently in focus are especially in demand among hobby managers.

Sports Interactive FM21 offers interesting insights on player preferences with brand new numbers. In the first week of the European Championship, a trend was immediately apparent: headlines were buying EM participants more often for their own team.
At the top of the wish list of many virtual managers is Kiefer Moore. Despite an injury and a turban, the Welshman scored 1–1 with a header against Switzerland on the first day of the match. This apparently impressed FM21 users so much that they transferred him to their clubs. According to developer studios, the 28-year-old was contracted 428 percent more times and thus clearly tops the list.

The Danish captain is also very popular. Simon Kajar played a major role after the fall of teammate Christian Eriksen and ensured, for example, the Dane formed a circle around the midfielder. The defender’s daring maneuvering and leadership skills have probably aroused the interest of many hobby managers: the number of their transfers has increased by 357 percent in soccer simulations. Ericsson itself (an increase of 223 percent) also slipped into the top 10 of the survey.

FM21 managers can also be impressed by amazing goals. Bayer Leverkusen’s Patrick Schick scored the best goal for Czech Republic so far. His dream goal of 45m against Scotland has prompted some users to secure the 25-year-old’s qualities for themselves. Bundesliga professional Ondrej Duda from Hertha BSC (+230 percent) and Wolfsburg substitute keeper Pavao Pervan, who is in the Austrian squad (+256 percent), are also popular.
In addition, the transfer numbers of Italian Leonardo Spinazola (+321 percent), Russian Artem Dzuba (+277 percent), French N’Golo Kante (+250 percent) and Englishman Calvin Phillips (+243 percent) increased. When asked on social media, Sports Interactive clarified that the data was collected anonymously and that no individual user was spied on.
