German weather service warns of strong thunderstorms with heavy rain

The German Weather Service (DWD) has warned of local storms in Berlin and Brandenburg for Friday and Saturday. The DWD announced it initially in the west, then in the late afternoon with occasional strong thunderstorms in the Oder and Nice.

Locally heavy rain may also subside rapidly. In a short time, 25 liters and sometimes 40 liters per square meter of rain can be expected. This can be achieved with small hail and thunderstorms at a speed of 70 kilometers per hour, which corresponds to Air Force 8. Apart from rain and thunder, the wind blows weakly.

According to the DWD, storm events can sometimes last through Saturday night. There may be rain and hail again on Saturday morning. Locally, heavy, hurricane-like rain may occur “from Uckermark to Niederlausitz”.

The maximum value on Saturday should be between 22 and 25 degrees. On Sunday evening, the areas will remain cloudy and the rain should subside.
