Wyoming Govt. Mark Gordon (R) tested positive for Covid-19, his office announced Wednesday, a day before Thanksgiving.
His office said in a statement The governor has small features and plans to work remotely, According to CBS News.
“Governor Mark Gordon received the results of a COVID-19 test today that showed he was positive for the virus,” the governor’s office said. “She has only minor symptoms at the moment and plans to continue working remotely on behalf of Wyoming.”
His diagnosis came about a week after he imposed new coronavirus restrictions as the number of Covid-19 cases in the state has increased, as in the rest of the country.
Under the rules announced last Thursday, indoor facilities can have only 25 per cent capacity of social distance and outdoor facilities can have 50 per cent capacity of social distance. Gordon did not issue a mask order, making Wyoming one of 13 states without the need to cover the face.
Wyoming, like most states, has experienced rapid growth in cases and hospital admissions this month. In total, the state has confirmed 26,677 COVID-19 cases and documented 4,084 potential cases, Covid Tracking Project.
The number of cases in the state has increased by 21.7 per cent in the last week and 802 new cases were added on Wednesday. The death toll in Wyoming has risen to 215 and 226 people are currently hospitalized.
