Harrison Ford absent from “Indiana Jones” filming

Harrison Ford absent from

In the coming year, a new part of the series “Indiana Jones” will hit theaters. After 14 years, Harrison Ford returned in the role of the same name. On the film’s set in Glasgow, however, he is nowhere to be seen.

The shooting of the fifth “Indiana Jones” film in Glasgow is currently underway without lead actor Harrison Ford. Many onlookers gathered around a barely-closed set in the Scottish town this week and shared photos on social media. Not to be seen on that: Harrison Ford himself.

Apart from director James Mangold, there was a man in the British media who looked very much like Ford. But it should be double. Possible reason for Harrison Ford’s absence: The 79-year-old recently injured his shoulder during filming and will now have to take a break for a few weeks.

On the other hand, British actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge and American actor Boyd Holbrook are very much on site. Online magazine “Glasgolive” published photos of the duo with director James Mangold on Thursday. Danish film star Mads Mikkelsen is also said to have been spotted on the sets.

New York of the 1960s is represented

Glasgow’s city center currently resembles an American city from the 1960s. For the shoot, several streets were decorated with American flags and banners to imitate New York at the time. After landing on the moon in 1969, there was a parade in Manhattan for the Apollo 11 astronauts. The BBC showed photos from the set, on which banners could be seen congratulating Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Buzz Aldrin and the words: “A giant step for humanity.”

Filming for “Indiana Jones 5” began in England in June. As in the previous four films, Ford plays Jones, the adventurer and archaeologist. Filmmakers Steven Spielberg and George Lucas began the “indie” series with “Raiders of the Lost Ark” in 1981. Spielberg, who had so far directed all the films, handed over the management of the fifth part to Mangold. The film is scheduled to premiere on July 29, 2022. The title of the film is not yet known.
