Viewers of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics were stunned when Susan Boyle made a surprise appearance at the opening ceremony, and now the singer has said she was honored to be included.
The Scottish singer was instrumental in the spectacular opening ceremony of the delayed Olympics when one of her tracks, Wings to Fly, was used in an iconic moment.
Susan was impressed by the event, which she took to Twitter to express.
“It was a real honor to be invited by the #TokyoOlympics to use my song ‘Wings to Fly’ on the pigeon release at the opening ceremony,” he wrote on Twitter.
“Good luck to all the athletes competing, and especially @TeamGB.”
Pigeons are traditionally released in one form or another during the Olympic opening ceremonies as a symbol of peace, a practice that dates back to the 1920 Antwerp Olympics.

Instead of real pigeons, thousands of paper pigeons descended from above as a sweet ballad played in the background during the ceremony in Tokyo.
Wings to Fly, a song by Susan Boyle for her debut studio album I Dreamed a Dream, released in November 2009.
The cover of Susan’s Wings to Fly was only released in Japan as a bonus, with the original version of the Japanese folk ballad being released in 1970.
The crooner rose to fame after wooing the judges of Britain’s Got Talent with his rendition of I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables.
Susan previously admitted that she felt like an “actor in a monster show” when she first auditioned. She said she felt “upset” as people “laughed at her crazy hair and clothes” when she took the stage.
“It was very full, almost like I was an actor on a monster show, and it hurt. It was incredibly hard to come to terms with it for a while, but the positives far outweighed the negatives,” she told the Irish Mirror .

“Everyone was laughing at me; They wondered who this crazy hairy idiot was… and I had made the wrong choice of clothes, so no one had high hopes.
Susan has made the final decision as she has a stable and successful career and is able to see her name in a bright light this winter, given that the singer is in talks for residency in Las Vegas.

According to sources, Su-bo is eager to be back on stage and has been approached to start a series of shows in Sin City.
“Susan is really excited to be invited and looks forward to performing in the United States in November,” an insider told The Sun on Sunday.
