The tragedy “Macbeth” has been filmed several times. Now there’s another version with Hollywood stars Frances McDormand and Denzel Washington.

Los Angeles/New York. The remake of the Shakespeare classic “Macbeth” will celebrate its world premiere in New York with top-class Oscar winners Frances McDormand (“Nomadland”) and Denzel Washington (“Training Day”).

According to organizers, “The Tragedy of Macbeth” will debut at the New York Film Festival in late September. Released by Drama Studio A24 and Apple Original Films.

Solo Project by Joel Coen

Directed by Joel Coen (“Fargo”, “No Country for Old Men”), who has been married to McDormand since 1984 and has brought her in front of the camera several times. In late April, the actress won the Oscar for Best Leading Actress for “Nomadland.” Joel’s brother Ethan is usually involved in Coen projects as a producer, director or screenwriter. “Macbeth” is a solo project by Joel, who also scripted and produced.

William Shakespeare’s 1606 tragedy revolves around a power-hungry, dishonest prince (Washington) who, with the help of his wife Lady Macbeth (McDormand), seeks to become king of Scotland. Following the screen adaptations of Orson Welles (1948) or Roman Polanski (1971), Australian Justin Kurzel brought Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard to the camera as the killer ruling couple in 2015.
