Royal family has ‘celebrity status’ in US: Bose

The details of the couple’s evening were shared by Duncan Larcombe, who has been covering the royal family for more than a decade. Speaking to OK, he claimed that William and Kate have been able to “sneak in” on unrecognized incidents when not on duty.

Mr Larcombe said: ‘They love to go to the West End and they usually squeeze in without a problem.

“They keep a low profile and do normal things without anyone noticing, like Princess Diana did.

“And while the adorable grandparents take care of the kids, William and Kate were able to sneak into the local pub for one night, just the two of them.

“I’m told they did this to celebrate William’s birthday in June.”

The royal writer claimed that the couple occasionally ate William’s home-cooked food on TV, as they once did in St Andrews.

He commented: “Another favorite of the couple is that William cooks Bolognese for Kate and they sit on the couch watching TV.

“It reminds them of their student years when they first met and their enduring love affair began.”

William and Kate met in 2001 when they both arrived at the University of St Andrews to study.

They then shared a house with two other students and began dating in 2004.

In 2011, the couple married at Westminster Abbey, in front of millions of television viewers around the world.

Individually, the couple can be very low-key, according to Larcombe.

He said: “Kate and William’s relationship developed while they were at St Andrew’s University, doing things normal for students and just enjoying each other’s company.

“As a future king, you might expect William to take Kate to Paris or have an extravagant lunch at a top restaurant, but they were never the same.

“They’re more of a fish and chips on the seaside couple, as we saw when they recently returned to St Andrews for an engagement.”

The Duke and Duchess visited St Andrews again in May on a tour of Scotland.

During their visit, William and Kate dine at a popular local restaurant, Forgan Restaurant.

Director Mark said: “There was no pomp or ceremony or fanfare, they were great and they were very appreciative when they left.”

Mr Larcombe, author of “Prince Harry: The Inside Story”, argued that this was typical of the couple.

He explained: “Whenever they work together, the only thing William and Kate try to do is break the schedule.
