The Scottish government announced on Thursday that nightclubs in the area would be closed for three weeks from 27 December in an effort to prevent infections caused by the coronavirus.

As Senior Deputy Minister John Swine explained, the new restrictions are meant to close all clubs that cannot operate “by the rules”.

Swine’s announcement came before the Scottish Parliament’s Recovery Committee, reports the British BBC television channel. “Now that we are engaged in this area, we propose that the clubs remain closed for three weeks,” he said.
