“As Dr. Hahn wrote in a staff note today, he recently came into contact with an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 guidelines. For (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), he is now in quarantine for the next two weeks. He underwent a diagnostic test and tested negative for the virus, “said FDA spokesman Michael Felberbaum in a statement on Friday.
Hahn will continue his work from home, Felberbaum confirmed on CNN on Saturday.
Hahn is a member of the White House coronavirus task force, which held the most recent meeting Thursday.
An official familiar with the situation within the White House coronavirus task force told CNN that it is unclear if any panel members will be quarantined and that more will be known about the next steps on Saturday.
A senior White House official told CNN on Friday that contact tracing was done inside the White House following Miller ‘s positive test. All the people she was in contact with, including her husband, Trump’s senior adviser Stephen Miller, were negative, the official said.
The White House began to make sure that staff wore masks in the White House residence and increased tests and temperature checks across the West Wing.
He expected that Hahn would testify next week at a hearing from the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee on the government’s response to the coronavirus.
Felberbaum told CNN that the FDA is “working with all parties” in connection with the agency’s participation in Tuesday’s hearing.
