LONDON (AP) – British actor Richard E. Grant (“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”) mourns his wife Joan Washington. The 64-year-old said goodbye on Friday with a touching short video that shows him and his wife laughing while dancing.

Grant, who was nominated for the 2018 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor (“Can You Ever Forgive Me?”), tweeted, “Our hearts are broken at the loss of your life last night.”

“Only you! Joan – the love of my life and the giver of life to our daughter Olivia,” wrote Grant. She married Washington in 1986 from Aberdeen, Scotland. The couple was in a relationship for a total of 38 years. Another son comes from an earlier relationship with Washington.

Washington was involved as a language coach in several famous films such as “Elizabeth” and “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace”. Several celebrities expressed their condolences to Grant. Actress Jessica Chastain, who has worked with Washington multiple times, tweeted: “Joan Washington shaped me as an artist, but above all as a woman.”
