However, no weather alert has been issued for the weekend as of now.

Parts of Britain are getting more rain in the first 17 days of August after more than a month of torrential rains.

The Met Office said parts of central and eastern England would receive heavy rain from the west to east of the country on Sunday with a risk of flooding.

But temperatures in the northern regions will climb to around 20C, and London could see 25C on Friday and Sunday.

Meteorological Department meteorologist Simon Partridge said parts of Northern Ireland and south-west England could receive up to 40 mm of rain for 24 hours on Saturday and the northern Pennines on Sunday.

This comes after London and Northern Ireland experienced a particularly wet August.

For Friday, daylight and the first hours of sun will be the first to be appreciated, “but there will be a thick cloud soon in the morning”, warned Meteogroup UK.

While rain and rain would spread over parts of Northern Ireland and western Britain later in the day, “rainfall is expected to be heavy locally”, he added.

And then on Friday evening, rain in Northern Ireland will spread to parts of Scotland and western Britain during the evening.

This band of rain is expected to flood the rest of the UK over the weekend.

Mr Partridge said the worst rain is expected in the western regions on Saturday and in the Midlands and eastern regions on Sunday.

He said: “Friday is shaping up to be quite dry and we may see 24 or 25C which will probably be around the London area.

“It can be quite volatile with rain on Saturday, with Friday being the driest day.

“East and southeast will be quite dry on Saturday, while it will be very wet in the west.

“It may be wet in places on Sunday and we may need a rain warning.

“It looks like the Midlands and parts of the East may receive a lot of rain on Sunday – but there is also a lot of uncertainty.”

Hull, Norwich, Newcastle and Aberdeen are among the eastern regions hit by heavy rain on Sunday, with wind coming from the North Sea.

But the good news is that after a few more days of rain, warmer weather will hit our shores, said meteorologist Alex Deakin of the Met Office.

He said: “There are signs of dry, sunny weather coming next week. “

The high pressure is followed by a widespread depression through the UK.

“This summit could dominate most of the next week.

“It will be drier, sunny and hotter — and since it’s August, there’s still energy in the sun, so it’s going to be a little warmer next week,” Deakin said.

it was taken by internet tv, who said: “Next week the high pressure is trying to calm the weather and last until a public holiday at the end of August.

“It will bring something beautiful and dry, but that doesn’t mean there’s a heat wave on the way.”

The Met Office’s long-term forecast, from August 24 to September 3, predicts, “Temperatures will be slightly above average for this time of year. “

Meteorologist Simon Partridge said the City of London had already recorded 117% of its normal rainfall in August.

He said the capital received 60 mm of rain till August 17, as against 51 mm of rainfall usually received in the entire month.

Northern Ireland received 90 mm of rain, which is 90% of the month’s average of 97 mm.

East Anglia and north-east England have been the driest regions, having so far recorded only 43% of their average August rainfall of 24 mm and 30 mm respectively.

The Sun reported that this summer is already the most miserable in a decade, figures show.
