Woody Allen announces retirement from cinema - World of Really

Woody Allen has announced his retirement while working on his 50th and final film in Europe. It was inevitable, but the famous screenwriter and director more or less confirmed it this afternoon in Spain.

This announcement was made on Saturday at 1 pm Interview with La Vanguardia, Allen stated that he had no desire to make films anymore, but would like to write a novel in his later years.

Of this latest film, shot in Paris and shot entirely in French, Allen says of the Spanish medium that “it will be like ‘Match Point’, thrilling, dramatic and also very frightening.” The plan is to shoot it in a few weeks.

Since this is his last film, I think a big world premiere is being prepared at the Cannes Film Festival.

Allen received a record 16 Academy Award nominations for Best Screenplay. His main works, at least to me, will always be “Annie Hall”, “Crime and Misdemeanor”, “Hannah and Her Sisters”, “Husbands and Wives” and “The Purple Rose of Cairo”.

The next batch of Woodies are ‘Broadway Danny Rose’, ‘Zelig’, ‘Radio Days’, ‘Bullets Over Broadway’, ‘Midnight in Paris’, ‘Blue Jasmine’, ‘Match Point’, ‘Sleeper’. ‘Banana and “Manhattan”.
