“You’re becoming delusional”: Rush Limbaugh scolded the hosts of “The Breakfast Club” for denying the existence of white privileges

During the nearly 30-minute conversation, also broadcast on Limbaugh’s nationwide syndicated program, “The Rush Limbaugh Show,” he expressed outrage over the death of George Floyd, the unarmed black man whose death in police custody in Minneapolis Minnesota last week sparked global protests.

They moved on from the topic, but it surfaced a second time towards the end of the interview when Limbaugh suggested talking to “The Breakfast Club” again in the future. Charlamagne said he would not be concerned if Limbaugh continues to deny the existence of concepts such as white privilege.

Limbaugh, however, doubled his position.

“White supremacy or white privilege is a construct of the Democratic Party today, and I will not agree on any aspect of it as they propose it,” said Limbaugh. “I’m not denying that there are some people out there who think they are better than other people. But structurally, institutionally, white supremacy – this is a construct.”

“Don’t you see how whites are treated better in this country?” Charlamagne asked.

Limbaugh replied that he had been “abused” throughout his life by companies, groups and individuals.

“I’ve been fired nine times in my career,” said Limbaugh.

“But have you ever been thrown out of the car because you were driving a nice car?” Pressed Charlamagne. “Have you ever been black?”

“I had the key to my car,” Limbaugh replied. “I blew the tires. Sure.”

“I’m talking about throwing your car out of a police officer because you’re black driving a nice car!” Charlamagne said. “Or walking down the street in Queens, the area where you come from, and the police drag you and tap you. Did these things happen to you?”

“No, you see I’m a hermit, a recluse, and I don’t go out and do all that sort of thing,” said Limbaugh. “No, that sort of thing never happened to me, I give it to you.”

But then Limbaugh quickly took a step back, saying, “Well, actually, no, that’s not true.”

“Oh, Rush, stop!” Charlamagne said.

The interview ended shortly after, with the hosts from Limbaugh and “The Breakfast Club” who said they appreciated the dialogue.
