Zelensky's dress code at the 9/11 memorial in New York called unacceptable: Appearance: Value: Lenta.ru

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s dress code is unacceptable for official visits at an event at the National 9/11 Memorial in New York. Sneakers and polo worn by the head of state may only be allowed on informal trips such as fishing. This opinion was expressed by Albina Kholgova, President of the National Association of Experts on Ethics, Etiquette and Protocol, in a conversation with “Lenta.ru”.

Zelensky visited the National 9/11 Memorial in New York and laid a wreath in memory of those killed in the 9/11 attacks. The president wore a long-sleeved black polo shirt, black trousers and black patent-leather sneakers and wide white soles.

According to Kholgova, Zelensky’s wardrobe does not fall under the classic dress code adopted at events of this nature for top officials of the state. In addition, as noted by the head of the Association for Business Ethics, even his security guards look more presentable against the background of the President of Ukraine.

Heads of state are also permitted to wear sweatshirts, sportswear, if appropriate for the event. However, the dress in which Zelensky appeared at the memorial event could be considered disrespectful, the expert warned.

Kholgova said that the president cannot, in principle, dress as he pleases, regardless of the situation, as he is bound by the position.
