Colton Ellis played with the Rimouscois formation for three seasons.
21-year-old goalkeeper Colton Ellis made his first East Coast League (ECHL) game on 30 October. The former Rimouski Oceanic intercepted 42 shots and helped the Worcester Railroaders win their duel against the Maine Mariners.
During his time in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), Ellis wore the uniforms of the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, Charlottetown Islanders and Oceanic. It was with the latter team that the Nova Scotia native spent the most time during his junior career. He showed an outstanding performance at the Courteau circuit, winning 103 out of 153 doubles in which he defended his goal. His performances have earned him various honors, only to be named Raymond Lagasse (2018, awarded best defensive rookie) and Jacques Plante (2021, awarded to the goalkeeper who scored the best average goals).
So we can say that goalkeeper Colton Ellis is ready to perform among the professionals. Not only did the Nova Scotians manage to be drafted in the third round by the St. Louis Blues in 2019, but this latest team to play in the National Hockey League (NHL) also earned them a three-way entry contract. This means that the rights to Colton Ellis will remain with the Blues until 2024.
