Cologne (SID) – The Stuttgart Surge suffered a heavy defeat in the European League of Football (ELF) after parting ways with quarterback Jacob Wright over racist insults. The Swabians lost to Berlin Thunder at 19:40 on Sunday. It was the second bankruptcy in the third game, with Berlin celebrating their first success.
Wright was banned from ELF for the rest of the season on Monday following his action in a game against the Frankfurt Galaxy, after which the Stuttgart-based company split from the American professional. In his place came compatriot Aaron Ellis.
Frankfurt defeated Panthers Breslau in 22:13 in their home premiere and inflicted their first defeat of the season at Poles. The Leipzig Kings were defeated by the Cologne Centurion 47:48. Cologne has two wins after three appearances, with Leipzig winning another.
The Hamburg Sea Devils also won their second game on Saturday. Former NFL defensive end all-around team Kasim Adebili defeated the Barcelona Dragons in 32:14 and finished first in the North Division. Hamburg is the only team that is still unbeaten. Barcelona have lost each of their three group matches so far and remain in last place.
