Cashhound introduces its Winter Bottling 2021 – three expressive single malts to celebrate the New Year

“Are you ready for Hogmanay?”

In line with the upcoming turn of the year, The Caskhound, the man behind IGRIDH RAIL and EXQUISITE CASKS, Tilo Schnabel, shows off with his three new single cask bottles how to relax and put the vigorously departing year 2021 with one in the ass. Give a kick – and properly welcome the new year!

Scots have always known how to properly celebrate – and anyone who has ever had the opportunity to celebrate the end of the year – called Hogmans – in Scotland with friends in the traditional way to the country and its people. Will love even more. But whether it’s celebrating in crowds in the streets of Edinburgh or with friends in a cottage in the Highlands, singing ‘Auld Lang Syne’ in front of a fireplace – a good play is as much a part of the start of the new year as bread. Greetings, salt and a piece of coal. And what could be better with it than whiskeys that have already captured the taste of Hogmanay – the maltyness of bread, the salty sea notes and the smoke and ash of coal? Not to forget the gentle kick of the succulent fruit-spicy aroma that distillates get from the long finish in sherry and port cask. The perfect kick to throw the old year in the bin and welcome the new year with hope.

Three single malt whiskeys with character: from “Spiced Malt Candy with Sherry” to “Campfire with Berry Compote” to “Isley with a Fruity Left Hook” – the perfect play for your personal Hogman!

Winter bottling malts, as always from The Caskhound, are bottled at natural cask strength, undiluted and not chill-filtered.

And you can wait for these three drops:

Caskhound (animals of the Alba series): DailyUin

specide single malt scotch whisky,

12 years (2009/2021), 54.8% abv,

Refill Bourbon Hogshed Ripe

First Phil finish in Port Barrick (11 months),

Version 267 bottles (0.5 L) each 59.90 Euro (RRP)

DAILUAINE is one of several Speyside distilleries that often lurk in the shadows of their better neighbors – but it’s worth paying more attention to the drops from the distillery not far from Aberlour. This 12-year-old DAILUAINE is allowed to show the distinctive aromas of distillery from aging in refilled bourbon hogshead: caramel sweetness and maltiness, herbal tartness and traces of anise , Nearly a year’s finish in Port Barrique takes its succulent notes on canvas: dark fruit, fine, wine-like acidity, notes of tobacco, demerara sugar and sweetness of caramelized nuts, preceded by tannins and an all-around picture. Woody bitterness …

Cashhound (animals of the Alba series): LEDAIG

hilly terrain Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 12 Years Old (2009/2021), 56.8% ABV,

Refill Bourbon Hogshed Ripe

Finished first in Pedro Ximénez Sherry Hogshead (12 months),

Version 351 Bottles (0.5 L) Each 69.90 Euro (RRP)

The single malt from Mull Island has managed brilliantly in recent years to free itself from the shadow of its older brother Tobermory – and also to become a serious alternative to the classic Islay malt with its strong haze and its oceanic aroma . This 12-year-old LEDAIG skillfully illustrates why and inspires with a harmonious interplay of different barrel influences: campfire and ham, the aromatic spiciness of BBQ and fine peaty alternate with the sweetness and berry fruitiness of PX sherry, herbal and by was completed. Notes of liquorice, dried fruit and some dark chocolate.

IGRIDH RAIL: STAOISHA

islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 8 Years Old (2013/2021), 55.1% ABV,

Bourbon Barrel Mature + First Fill Oloroso Sherry Quarter Cask (170 days),

Version 110 bottles (0.7 L) each 69.90 Euro (RRP)

The malts named STAOISHA, which have recently brought tears of joy to the heavily pealed Islay Whiskey friends, are fluid evidence of the constant change – even in the traditional whiskey scene. Distilled at Islay’s northernmost distillery, their single malts were long largely obsolete and stood out for the calm tone in Islay whiskey’s orchestra, which is heavily influenced by peat and smoke. This 8-year-old heavy peaty STAOISHA, with its pronounced peaty notes and spicy BBQ smokiness, clearly shows there’s another way – and masterfully complements the almost-year-old Finnish classic Islay character in Oloroso Sherry Quarter Cask and Dark Fruits, Leather and tobacco notes, with great nuttiness and sweetness of dark chocolate. Tasty!

Three bottlings can be found at our business partners starting Monday, December 27, 2021.
