Scotland’s highest court heard an argument about opening a money laundering investigation into Donald Trump’s finances.

A forensic review of the Scottish government’s refusal to pursue an unexplained funding order (UWO) in the former US president’s cases found that funding for Mr Trump’s golf resorts was ‘funneled out of unlimited money elsewhere outside the UK’ Was.

The so-called “McMafia” order allows officials to target allegedly corrupt foreign officials who have potentially laundered stolen money through the UK. Civil power is designed to compel property owners to disclose their wealth. If a civil servant or his family cannot prove the legitimate source of his property, the authorities can move the court to confiscate the property.
