About two years ago, two smartphones and a laptop were taken from Daniel Tashler during a doping investigation and have since been housed in the Carabinieri barracks. Now the former biathlete wants her valuables back.

The investigation against Daniel Tashler goes back years: In 2017 he was sentenced to a suspended sentence for connections to doping doctor Michelle Ferrari, two years after the Court of Appeal in Trento acquitted him of all charges. Only a short time later he was named by the Munich public prosecutor’s office as one of 23 alleged doping sinners in reference to Operation Adderlas. For this reason, Antholz’s biathletes, which were not active at the time, were seized in July 2019 with two smartphones and a laptop.
The items were examined and their data evaluated by the Carabinieri unit “Nucleo Antisophisticazioni e Sanita” (NAS) in Trento. Reportedly, no results related to the doping cause should have been revealed. However, Tuschler is awaiting the return of his laptop and his two cell phones, almost two years from the day of confiscation.
The 34-year-old from Pustertal, now apparently fed up with the wait and is taking legal action against the ongoing seizure. He relies on the curious fact that the relevant evidence protection proceedings against him were collected by the preliminary investigation judge in September 2020 and closed accordingly.
Despite the immediate end of valuables, Daniel Taskler’s court file is a chapter long and is now as extensive a biathlete as his sporty calling card.
