There was nothing to celebrate for the German hockey men, who despite a 3-1 lead, lost the shortened final against India 4-5 to the third place.
After the tragic failure of Niklas Kaul, German Kai Kazmierek is still represented in the Decathlon.
On the second day of competition, the 30-year-old still has to do the pole vault, javelin throw and 1500m final. He is currently in 13th place.
Olympic Photos: Reaching for the Stars
In the women’s heptathlon, Caroline Schaefer and Vanessa Grimm still have the javelin throw and 800 meters for the competition. Schaefer literally sanded his fuzzy medal chances with a weak long jump.
