Cologne (SID) – Tony Soderholm (43) has yet to make a decision about his future as coach of the national ice hockey team beyond the Olympic season. “I feel incredibly happy that I have been allowed to be the national coach. But everything is still open,” he said of a possible contract extension on the MagentaSport podcast “The Ice Hockey Show”: “We coordinate Will do and have an overview of the purchases in the coming months.” Söderholm’s current contract expires in mid-2022.

For DEB selection and Söderholm, preparations for the Olympic Games in Beijing (February 4 to February 20, 2022), in which the coach will also focus on the German NHL – the Legionnaires may return around superstar Leon Driesettel. At the World Cup in Riga, Latvia in May, Söderholm led the German team to fourth place without Driestal.
