Jજેrgen Klopp matches 40-year-old Bob Paisley's record in Liverpool's win over West Ham

Jurgen Klopp equaled the record set by Liverpool legend Bob Paisley 40 years ago as the Reds beat West Ham 2-1 on Saturday evening.

The Reds’ unbeaten run at Anfield in the Premier League escalated games to games to avoid defeat to the Hammers – the same number as Paisley remained unbeaten between 1978 and 1980.

Under the supervision of an unbeaten run by Paisley, Liverpool won the back-to-back first division title.

Klopp hopes to achieve the same feat as his team’s goal is to defend the Premier League title this season.

Liverpool have been at home since the Germans took over five years ago and you haven’t lost a league game at Efield, when they were sunk by Crystal Palace.

The Reds had to come back from behind to beat the Irons as Pablo Fernal hit on a weak clearing header by Jori Gomez and opened the scoring.

But Mohamed Salah was hitting a penalty down in the middle after Arthur Masuaku inflated the bucks by pulling Liverpool level halfway through.

And the Reds took the lead with a few minutes left in the second half, as substitute Diego Jotta struck moments when he rejected a goal for VAR.

The club’s goal is to break the record set against West Ham, as Liverpool welcome Leicester City to Anfield after an international break.

How does the club’s achievements with Liverpool compare to Paisley’s? Here’s what you have to say.

Liverpool were responsible for ending a significant run after beating the Blues 1-0 with a strike from Zibi Alonso.
