THURSDAY, July 15, 2021 at 11:23 a.m. — The city of Steviake, Nova Scotia experienced its first tornado in more than two decades. It was also the strongest in 41 years, causing force damage to the EF-1.
The tornado, which formed on June 30, remained on the ground for a distance of about 600 meters and had a maximum diameter of 50 meters. Meanwhile, the winds reached 155 km/h at their peak: these gusts completely destroyed a barn, as shown in these images captured by the drone.

The Environment Canada team, which was at the scene to look for damage, also found that the storm caused a microburst nearby, with an estimated speed of 115 km/h.
Tornado formation is relatively rare in this part of the country. Annually, there is usually only one. In Canada, there are a total of 22 confirmed tornadoes, ten of which are EF-0.
In Quebec, we deserve an even more eventful season: Eight tornadoes have been confirmed, including four in a single day. Half of the total tornadoes had an EF-2 force.
