QMJHL revises its plans for the playoffs

Following the start of travel restrictions and discussions with public health, the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League announced on Friday that Val-d’Or would not be a host city for the first round of the first round of the President’s Cup.

As a result, the series between the Fourrs and the Drucker de Bei-Comu, which was to be presented at Val-de-Ore, would instead take place in Drummond. For the Tigers and Hawkeyes of Rhône-Noranda, they would rather cross swords in Victoriaville.

The cities of Chicoutimi and Shawinigan will host other series.

Meanwhile, QMJHL has announced that the 2020-2021 season for the Halifax Moshheads and Cape Breton Eagles will end on Sunday.

The two Nova Scotia teams therefore will not participate in the President’s Cup playoffs. The courtroom circuit justified the decision by the delay surrounding the reopening of the “Atlantic Bubble”.

Hence the teams from New Brunswick will face a nine-game round robin tournament. The winner of this event would then have to go for the Maritimes Division Finals against the Charlottetown Islanders.

“The league will determine the format and timing of the round robin tournament in the coming days,” the QMJHL said in a statement.

The Maritime Champion would then join three Quebec clubs for the semi-finals of the playoffs. These will be presented in a single protected environment. Once again, the location and dates of this event are to be determined.
