Sweden wins World Curling Championship over Scotland

Calgary – Niklas Edin and Sweden beat Bruce Mouat and Scotland 10-5 to win the World Men’s Curling Championship.

Switzerland defeated Russia 6–5 in the bronze medal match, which ended on the podium.

The World Cup qualifiers resumed on Sunday morning due to the disruption of activities due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Four participants, including three from the eliminated teams, were found positive for COVID-19. The other athlete, who is part of the team in the race for the title, had to be in quarantine on Sunday.

Saturday’s playoff games and two semi-finals have been postponed so that more screening tests can be done.

Alberta Public Health then approved the resumption of activities, the World Curling Federation said.

Switzerland beat the United States 7-6 on Sunday morning to enter the semi-finals with Sweden.

Sweden beat Switzerland 11–3 in the afternoon to advance to the final, then Scotland joined them after beating Russia 5–3.

All players wore masks for the first time in Sunday’s tournament in the Calgary Bubble.
