Twitch sexual harassment ban now includes words like ‘simple’ and ‘insel’

Livestreaming service Twitch is updating its ban against slurs to include a collection of new slangs related to the mistreatment of women in general.

In an update of his troubles Policy, The company said it would ban the use of words such as “simple”, “insel” and “virgin”, especially when it was used to refer negatively to another person’s sexual system.

“Using these terms on their own will not enforce, but we will take action if they are used repeatedly in an abusive manner,” he said, adding that emojis referring to these terms would also be subject to enforcement.

Twitch said it determines if there is any ambiguity as to whether the commonly used language degrades or degrades based on a protected characteristic.

“When we evaluate the use of hate speech, we consider the context, and we make exceptions to the use of certain words or phrases as empowerment or as relevant terms when such intent is clear. We implement it globally and against the use of hateful slurs in many languages, ”he explains.

This was part of an overall update of the company’s Terms of Use, which included three sections: harassment, hate speech and sexual harassment.

The new policy will come into effect from January 22 next year, thus only content created on or after the date will be subject to the new guidelines.

Twitch explained that post-policy roll-outs avoid being punitive, and give users time to learn about changes aimed at better protecting the community.

Although the company does not disclose the specifics of its implementation, the sentence may include a one-to-30-day warning and temporary suspension or permanent ban for extremely serious cases.
