Amazon Prime Day 2020 is now just a few days away, so it’s time we prepare our pages that will store the best cut-price items on both sides of the Atlantic in annual shopping holidays. When Prime Day begins on October 13th, until the sale ends on October 14th, we will post the best deals we find on Eurogamer. Here you will find our published deals for gaming laptops and pre-built desktop PCs.

It’s worth noting that when Amazon first announced a mid-season shopping holiday, usually coming in the summer but late this year due to covid, many retailers also tend to participate. By offering counter-programming, other retailers can ensure that Jazz doesn’t want to enrich Bezos’ empire, these are other deals to consider during a busy shopping period. We are not invested in any way, so we will combine the best deals we can get regardless of the offerings that are made in the store.

The two big ticket items this year are gaming laptops and pre-built desktop PCs, and that’s what we’ll cover on this page. For gaming laptops, we’ll find models that offer enough performance to take advantage of their screens – there’s not much in a 4K laptop that is rigid enough to just run at 1080p. For desktop ops, it is important to choose a balanced system that will scale well in the future.

By the way, if you want to take your new laptop or desktop out of some peripherals – or upgrade an existing machine with new components – check out a round-up of the best deals on our Prime Day PC. We also have a selection of the best 4K TV Prime Day Deals we have found so far.

Prime Day Gaming Laptop Deals

For gaming laptops, we recommend at least a GTX 1650 graphics card and a Core i5 or Raizen 4000 processor for an entry level machine supported with at least 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD storage. At higher price points, expect higher refresh rate laptops, with more powerful graphics cards (an RTX 2060 or ideally better) and complements of RAM and storage. In general, there is a trade-off between portability and power, with Ga thick design, for more durable performance than thinner and lighter options.

Prime Day pre-built gaming PC deals

Pre-built gaming desktop PCs require some waiting, as it is common for many vendors to overcome strict-to-specificities such as motherboards, RAM speeds, power supply certificates, or processor overclocking. Ideally, we would see a modern platform that allows for one of the latest Intel or AMD processors and faster graphics cards, backed up with a reasonable amount of RAM and storage. Thanks to this, both RAM and storage line are easy to upgrade, so CPU and GPU are the most crucial components to check.
