Window of visibility for QMJHL Cup, hopes

La coupe LHJMQ, une fenêtre de visibilité pour les espoirs

Hockey. The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) announced the creation of the QMJHL Cup, which would highlight the best prospects for the draft.

These three competitions will create a window of visibility for players from the Quebec and Atlantic provinces, as well as make the values and programs of the circuit known to optimists and their parents. By bringing together the best prospects in a single venue and competitive environment, the QMJHL Cup will provide recruiters of the QMJHL and Hockey Canada teams with an opportunity to evaluate.

The first round of the QMJHL Cup will take place from December 16 to 19 during the M18 AAA Challenge in Saguenay. The event will feature six teams: two teams to represent the best U15 prospects selected by Hockey Quebec and four teams composed of the 80 best prospects born from the LHEQ and RSEQ leagues in 2006. Players will be selected in collaboration with Hockey Quebec and the QMJHL Recruitment Support Center.

The second half of the QMJHL Cup will take place on February 3-6 in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Each branch of the Atlantic provinces (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador) will produce a roster that includes the best U16 players in their region.

The final leg will take place from 27 April to 1 May at the Center of Excellence Sports Rousseau in Boisbriand. The competition will bring together the 40 best prospects from the Atlantic provinces, who will be assigned to two different teams, while the 80 best players from Quebec will be divided into four teams. This third event will be the last opportunity for scouts to assess players in action ahead of the QMJHL selection season on June 16 and 17, 2022.
