ZSC Lions meets Rögle ngelholm in Round of 16 - Top Online

On Tuesday evening, the ZSC Lions secured a round of 16 ticket to the Champions Hockey League. Zurich Lions swept Czech Mlada Boleslav 7:3 through the snow. The 2009 Champions League winners ZSC Lions qualified for the Round of 16 with second place in the group. Zürich’s opponents Rojal in the Round of 16 is one of five Swedish Round of 16 players.

The team is currently fifth in the table in Sweden, also second behind Frolunda Gothenburg after losing points. Last season’s playoff finalist is coached by 37-year-old Canadian Cam Abbott, who once stormed for Rogal himself. The now active Swiss national goalkeeper Martin Gerber was no longer active for Rogel (2012/2013).

Friborg-Gouteron’s rivals, DEL leader RB Munich, have reached the knockout stage in all six Champions League appearances so far. In 2018/19, Munich was able to win against Zug on the way to the final in the round of 16. Freiburg were the only team to survive the group stage this year without losing a point.

Round of 16 will take place on 16./17. November (1st phase) or 23/24. November (second stage). If both Friborg-Gottoron and ZSC Lions win round of 16, the Swiss will duel in the quarter-finals.
