Another pair win in the program

We were expecting them and they finally happened this summer. Postponed last summer, the Tokyo Olympics will enthrall the sporting world from July 23 to August 8. RTBF invites you to find our athletes who will try to vibrate us. This is Thomas Detree, who competed in his first Olympic Games in golf.

Thomas Detri is from Brussels, he was immersed in the sport at a very young age and started golfing at the age of 5. He proved himself and started international tournaments at the age of 13.

Younger, Thomas spent four years in the United States. He studied at a special school in Illinois which allowed him to play and progress to several amateur tournaments. To continue his athletic dreams, he returned to Europe in June 2016 and turned pro. His first professional victory came at the Bridgestone Challenge in Oxford. This win and other good results secured him a spot on the European Tour in 2017.

World champion in 2018 with his compatriots Thomas Peters, also selected to defend Belgium at the Olympic Games, Thomas Detry recently finished second at the Scottish Open and qualified for the British Open. The golfer is in good shape and ready to tackle the Kasumigaseki Country Club course for his first Olympics.

Second place in Scottish Open and European Open in 2021 – second in Celtic Classic and in 2020 Hero Open – third in KLM Open and 2018 Belgian knockout and world champion.

Individual stroke play: Thursday 29 July to Sunday 1 August at Kasumigaseki’s Country Club
