The former Girondins doorman will rejoin the Bordeaux club this Tuesday in the staff of D1 women’s team coach Patrice Laire.

He never left the club as a consultant for (late) Girondins TV, BeIN Sport, Gold FM or Telefoot. But this time, Gaten Huard, the former Girondins goalkeeper, will re-do the Bordeaux club’s tracksuit. The holder of the Goalkeepers Coach Certificate from September 2020, he will integrate, as disclosed by RMC, the staff of the women’s Division 1 team Patrice Laird to coach the goalkeepers. He replaces Damien López, who has joined former coach Pedro Martínez Llosa in the staff of the Scottish national team.

Trained at Lens, with French champion Olympique de Marseille in 1989 and 1990, Gaiton Huard played 204 matches with the Girondins from 1991 to 1996, notably rising to D1 in 1992 and taking part in the adventure until the UEFA Cup final. 1996. He still holds the record for consecutive minutes without conceding a goal in the top flight (1176 minutes in 1992–1993).

At the age of 59, he has been looking after Libourne’s goalkeepers in National 3 since the start of the season. He will continue this mission as well, with priority in the Girondins when match schedules collide.
