Tennis pro Matteo Berrettini, who was placed second, barely reached the quarterfinals at the ATP Lawn tournament in Stuttgart.

Tenth in the world ranking from Italy won their first match in Weisenhof against Moldova 6:2, 4:6, 6:3 against Radu Albot. In the first round of the event for 769,645 euros, Berrettini had a bye. In the round of eight he meets either Jan-Lenard Struff or his Italian compatriot Lorenzo Sonego.

Berentini: “I’m so happy”

“I knew it would be one of my toughest matches this year,” said Berrettini, who was out for several weeks due to an arm operation and had decided not to start at the French Open in Paris. “I am very happy.”

In 2019, Berrettini won the title in Stuttgart – his first title on the grass on the ATP tour. The 26-year-old is one of the favorites to win the tournament again this year. Last summer he was at Wimbledon in the final of the world’s most important lawn tournament.
