View WhatsApp Status Anonymously: How To Be Undetermined

WhatsApp status of contacts can be exciting – but you don’t always want the sender to know you were looking. There are tricks to prevent this.
What is a “Story” on Instagram, it’s called a “Status” on WhatsApp. And although the ceremony initially received a lot of criticism and had major teething problems, more and more people are using the situation to share current experiences with their contacts. Because unlike the case with Instagram, the status is only shared with people who have a mobile phone number – not with the public in the world.
Plus, as a sender you get a practical list of people who have viewed the status – since a read receipt is sent with each click. However, this is what can be prevented. Because maybe it’s embarrassing or unfair if you regularly look at the love stories you pass up – because you still have the number in the address book.
Using WhatsApp anonymously limits tasks
The easiest way to read stories anonymously is through the app’s privacy settings. Simply navigate to the “Account” menu in Settings, then “Privacy” and there “Read Receipts”. As soon as you deactivate this item, other people will not know that you have read a message or viewed a status. However, this setting comes with a downside: If you don’t disclose what you read and watch now, you won’t be able to know who is reading your messages or checking your status.
There are more tips floating around the internet for emergencies — and no harm to you — on the internet. But: Most of the time, these instructions work poorly or cause major damage. For example, viewing status posts in flight mode and without a WiFi connection is recommended. When the content is loaded, WhatsApp will send all the confirmations once the connection is restored. What should help: After viewing content anonymously, delete the app, restore internet, reinstall the app. A huge effort that is hardly worth it, especially since WhatsApp limits the number of possible new installations.
The same applies when viewing news in a web browser without an internet connection. Theoretically, it’s even more possible, but due to the lack of data flow, the images don’t load – you only see the text.
wait at least 24 hours
In very urgent cases, the following tip has proved useful if you can’t live with the loss of missing read receipts: If you have viewed the status anonymously and with inactive read receipts, the status automatically disappears after 24 hours. Wait till it happens. If you reactivate the read receipt function only then, WhatsApp cannot register you afterwards and the sender will not know that you have viewed.
