WhatsApp: innovation in privacy settings

It is now possible to set your WhatsApp privacy settings in even greater detail. The innovations here relate to profile information.

whatsapp profile information

Previously, you could specify who viewed your profile information such as status, profile picture, info or “last online” time. Options included the options: “Everyone”, “My Contacts” or “Nobody”. Maybe even that wasn’t enough.

Now the options have expanded. Namely, regarding the point “Except my contact…”, as in WhatsApp also in a tweet or general question declares:

By loading Tweets, you accept Twitter’s privacy policy.

If you now select the “Except my contacts…” setting, you can select exceptions for contacts who no longer see profile pictures, online time stamps, status, or information.

tip: If you only want to show your profile information to a few contacts, you don’t need to painstakingly exclude most of your contacts. To do this, it is better to go in the opposite direction, first selecting them all and then unchecking some of the favorite contacts.

Where can I find these settings?

To check your current privacy settings and adjust them if necessary, you first select the “Settings” menu in WhatsApp. Under “Account” you will find the “Privacy” item where you can specify who should see what.
